We’re Ready! Community Disaster Preparedness Workshop
Time
1:30pm to 5:30pm
Location
Chappelle Gardens Social House
1059 Chappelle Blvd SW
October 17, 2026 | 1:30–5:30 pm
What would happen if an emergency affected our community? Would we know how to communicate, where to go, and how to help one another?
Join us for We’re Ready, an interactive community disaster preparedness workshop presented in collaboration with the City of Edmonton, the University of Alberta, and the Chappelle Community League.
This hands-on workshop goes beyond simply talking about emergency preparedness. Residents will work together to identify local risks, explore the resources and skills already available within our community, and develop a customized community disaster plan.
What You’ll Create
By the end of the workshop, participants will have worked together to develop practical tools for our community, including:
- Hazard and evacuation maps
- Community communication plans
- An inventory of local skills, resources, and capacity
- Strategies for coordinating and responding during an emergency
The goal is to help our community become better prepared to respond together, reducing confusion and distress, preventing injuries, protecting lives, and minimizing damage when emergencies happen.
